GRAHAM Turner reckons Hereford United can end the year with fireworks at St James' Park tonight.

Depleted Bulls travel to the south coast to face bogey side Exeter City in front of Sky's television cameras.

And they will want to put on an evening show for satellite viewers, despite holding a less-than-impressive recent Nationwide Conference record against the Grecians.

City comfortably won 2-0 at Edgar Street in November and completed the double last season, including a 4-0 thumping on home territory.

United enter the fixture on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak, but they were guilty of dropping two points at Forest Green Rovers on Boxing Day.

Director of football Turner admits his side were not worthy of victory at the Lawn, believing his players may have been complacent against the struggling Gloucestershire outfit.

"I was really disappointed at our first-half performance," said Turner. "It was nowhere near the level of recent performances.

"Looking at Forest Green's position, it was as though we just had to

turn up and win. I don't know whether it was a psychological thing. A couple of seasons ago, we beat them 7-1 and 5-1. Maybe the players thought it was going to be another one like that.

"It was a poor first-half, but it was much better in the second-half. We passed it a lot better and created a number of opportunities. We got into a 2-1 lead and we should have kept them out.

"I don't think taking a point at Forest Green is a setback, but obviously we would have liked three points."

To chalk up a 10th league win of the campaign in Devon tonight, Turner is well aware that an improved display is required.

He said: "Exeter are a decent, well-organised side going quite well in the league. We know what to expect from them.

"It could be to our advantage playing at night under the lights. It generally creates a high-tempo game, which is what we want. This is an opportunity to climb up the table."

Although Dean Beckwith returns from suspension, the centre-back is struggling to overcome a 'flu bug.

And Turner is not without other injury problems. Midfielder Andy Ferrell underwent a scan on a knee problem yesterday, while Tony James is struggling with a groin injury.

Stacy Coldicott (back) is still out, but full-back Ryan Green (virus) may come back into contention. Turner added: "We've gone from having a full squad to five players injured very quickly."
