MY family and I were thrilled to read of the restoration of one of our favourite places, St Ann's Well. We live in Manchester and read the Gazette on the web, but spend every moment we possibly can in the Malverns, staying on the campsite at Blackmore.

We often come into Malvern to trek up the hill to the well. To us, the donkey's attendance at the blessing ceremony was very poignant. It reminded us of the little donkey that lived for many years in a field at Blackmore.

As a child 30 years ago, I used to stop to talk to the donkey and when I married and started to bring my own children to the Malverns, they too went to see the donkey regularly. He was a popular resident of the Blackmore area and we were very sad when he died.
