THROUGH your letters' page, I would like to express how appalled I was with Malvern Hills Lions Club with regard to the Father Christmas tour.

On Tuesday, December 20, according to the report in the paper, he was supposed to be starting his tour in Quest Hills Road.

At 5.25pm that cold evening, there were various groups of children accompanied by adults waiting at different points on this road for Father Christmas to appear. No doubt others were waiting in the vicinity also.

By 5.45pm still no sign, perhaps his sleigh had broken down, we thought, and this was the story given to the waiting children.

Two parents decided to go in search of Father Christmas but this was to no avail. The children by this time were very fed up and disappointed and numbers waiting started to dwindle.

At 6.05pm Father Christmas decided to make an appearance, but not only was he late but he had the cheek to drive straight by the starting point and carried on in the opposite direction.

The children were quite upset at this and it was decided by various groups that it was time to go home.

The Lions certainly did a good job in disillusioning the children and left parents having to explain about Father Christmas' "fly-by" and not having time to stop and see them.
