SIR - John Shearon, (Letters, December 16) enquires whether the introduction of wheelie bins will help to reduce council tax. This correspondent's question is irrelevant.

The important factor is that wheelie bins are associated with recycling, which should help to conserve the planet's finite resources, thereby helping to ensure the future of life on earth.

Perhaps, like the inhabitants of Teme Road and Avon Road, John Shearon needs reminding that he has an obligation to his fellow beings who populate the third rock from the sun.

D E MARGRETT,

Worcester.
