TOURISM staff in Worcester have stocked up on a new publication which is aimed at guiding visitors in the right direction to the city's attractions and accommodation.

Fifteen thousand copies of the new Worcester visitor guide have arrived at the Guildhall, ready to distribute to local people and those from outside the area planning to come to the city. Senior tourism assistant Nicky Kelso said the guide was essential for Worcester's tourism and was used to promote the local attractions at exhibitions in London, Cardiff, Manchester and Bournemouth.

"Local people can call in to the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in the Guildhall and buy one for 75p. A lot of people use it when they have run out of inspiration about where to go and what to do. It gives information about all the things to do in and around Worcester and accommodation ranging from campsites to four-star hotels. There are also some gorgeous farms offering self-catering accommodation."

She said they send out, free of charge, hundreds of copies during the year to people outside Worcestershire to encourage them to visit, and copies have gone as far as Malta, Germany, Belgium, France and even a few to Australia, Canada and North America.
