ASPIRING artists in Wythall will have the chance to be taught by a master in a series of workshops this month.

Wythall Library is offering Saturday sessions to teach 12-16-year-olds about creating graphic novels or comic strips.

Named Manga Mania after a new collection of graphic novels recently acquired by the library service, the workshops will teach the the youngsters basic skills including drawing, dialogue and design.

Run by Worcestershire County Council's Library and Arts Services, Wyre Forest District Council Arts Development and Bromsgrove District Council, the workshops will be run by artist Kev Sutherland, who has worked for Marvel, AD2000 and The Beano, amongst others.

The sessions will also coincide with new opening hours at the village's library, which will now open from 9.30am to 5.30pm rather than closing at 1pm.

Sessions run from 10am to 4pm on January 7, 14, 21 and 28. Tickets to attend all four workshops are £5 available from Wythall Library. Places are limited, so early booking is recommended and a permission form must be completed by a parent or guardian.
