SIR - "Thirty pounds off council tax" if West Mercia Police join West Midlands. This is the same amount the council taxpayers now give extra to the police force for more police.
If the merger takes place, the first thing that will happen is that as the existing headquarters is not enough to house the new group, another green field will be swallowed up. More staff will be taken on and it will make that £30 look like peanuts.
