A DAY spent brewing up lashings of tea and coffee has given Operation Covert a financial lift.

Sara Hollis held a coffee morning/afternoon tea fund-raising event at her Kidderminster home and raised nearly £200 to be shared by our appeal and Kemp Hospice.

The retired schoolteacher, helped by friend, Sue Weston, invited friends and neighbours from far and wide and was delighted with the result.

She has a high regard for the Scout movement, having seen her brother gain "terrific benefit" as a youngster.

One of her three sons also has fond memories of camping at Rhydd Covert, after joining up with KD7 in Comberton and progressing from Cub to Scout to Queen's Scout.

Mrs Hollis, of Comberton Avenue, said: "In today's society, young people need all the help they can get and I feel the Scouts do a great job and deserve support.

"I wish Operation Covert every success and hope it reaches its target and can continue to be of great value to the youth of Wyre Forest."

Having been an Oxfam volunteer in the past, she felt she wanted to give a helping hand to local charities on this occasion and so divided the proceeds between our appeal and the hospice.
