AN abandoned nanny goat which was found dumped and in a poor condition before Christmas has made a miraculous recovery.

Now, the RSPCA hopes that someone will give it a new year home for a happy ending to the story.

On Sunday, December 18, RSPCA inspector Josie Oak was called to Dripshill Wood in Clevelode Lane, Guarlford, near Malvern, and discovered an extremely emaciated female goat.

As well as being starved, the brown and white animal had a rope around its neck and had bad eyes.

When approached by Insp Oak the goat was docile and not nervous, which indicated she was used to contact with humans. She was taken to a local veterinary surgery and then transferred to an RSPCA boarding facility in Cheltenham.

"When I collected this goat she was thirsty, hungry and disorientated," said Insp Oak.

"Due to her sight problems she was unable to look after herself, so if she has been dumped it was a shockingly, heartless act.

"I do not believe she would have survived much longer without food and water so thankfully we got there just in time.

"I am happy to reveal that the goat has made a miraculous recovery.

"Her weight has increas-ed significantly and her eyesight has improved immensely. When she was found she had a severe eye infection which has clear-ed due to receiving daily eye drops. We now want to find her a new home to give this tale the ending it deserves."

Anyone who can offer the goat a new home should contact the RSPCA on 01905 841354.

Insp Oak is still appealing for information about the circumatnces in which the goat was abandoned. Calls can be made to the national cruelty and advice line on 0870 5555 999.
