SIR - The incidence of car thefts and thefts from cars has recently left me wondering how many owners contribute to it.
A few weeks ago, a driver called in at our local shop at 5.45am, went in to buy a packet of cigarettes and left his engine running. When he came out, the car had disappeared. Talking to the shop owner he said drivers are still doing it. I went over one morning this week and there was a new model Vauxhall Vectra diesel standing there the engine running with the driver's door open. It certainly makes you wonder.
