Pershore Town Ladies 1,

Evesham Utd 4

UNITED dominated Sunday's one-sided first half but, for all their endeavours, they went into the break with a slender one-goal advantage.

It took them until five minutes before the break to breach a stubborn home defence in which Lisa Cropper had an outstanding game.

The goal arrived when Kayleigh Hateley retrieved the ball from her corner kick and crossed for Amy Summers to tuck the ball home at the far post.

Sam Perry almost added a second two minutes later but could only find the side netting, Lisa Tustin headed Hateley's corner just wide and Becky Handy's superbly flighted free-kick just cleared the crossbar.

Ten minutes into the second half United goalkeeper Mandy Upton fumbled a long ball forward and Pershore levelled as the ball was scrambled home by Kelly White.

United regained the lead in the 71st minute when Perry's shot came back of the angle of post and bar to fall perfectly for Jodie Colston to the knock the ball into an empty net.

Two minutes later the game was effectively over as Hateley worked her way along the goal line and pulled the ball back for Perry to smash a shot high into the roof of the net.

Nine minutes from time, a seemingly serious injury - later diagnosed as sever bruising - to Evesham's Char-lene McLoughlin caused a 33-minute delay but, on the resumption, a cross-cum-shot from Perry hit the top of the bar before the same player saw another effort charged down only for Summers to follow up and force home her second of the afternoon.

The winners continue their league programme on Sunday when they entertain Worcester City Reserves at Common Road (2pm).
