Kwik Save supermarket in Malvern Link will close on Monday, February 23, leaving 30 staff without jobs.

The Spring Lane store says it is trying to find staff opportunities with other retailers in the area and redundancy packages will be available to those it cannot place.

Paul Clarke, spokesman for the Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers' Union (USDAW), said it would be talking to members working at Malvern Kwik Save to make sure the process for those who wanted to redeploy was as effective as possible and staff made redundant got the best possible packages.

"We appreciate this is a difficult time for people and we urge them to speak to their union rep or full time official," he added.

Focus DIY has planning permission to extend the Kwik Save store and move there from its current base on the Malvern Retail Park.

Kwik Save first opened in Spring Lane in Malvern's former bus depot. The depot was demolished and a new supermarket built in 1995.
