DUE to transport problems, some members were unable to attend Staunton and District Over 60s Club's first meeting of the new year but John Southall was there.

He was able to show about 35 members photographs taken at the club's anniversary lunch.

The programme for 2006 is now available and membership is £5 per year. The club has room for more members so anyone interested should contact Nan Bevan. Transport is available from Gloucester via Ashleworth and from Newent via Oridge Street. The meeting on January 23 will be the anniversary party with entertainment. In February, it will be music and movement. Meetings are held fortnightly on Mondays from 10.15am-12.30pm in the lounge at Johnstone Close flats, Staunton.

The January Get-Together coffee morning was quite well attended, although several of the regular helpers were unable to be there. As always, the bring and buy table was quickly filled with all sorts of things. The next coffee morning will be on Wednesday, February 8 from 10.30am to noon.

A good number of people were welcomed to Staunton Parish Church, where a short simple service was held before a walk set off. Holly Chapman was at the organ and Robert Nelmes led the service and a reading was given by a Maisemore member. At the end of the service, the walkers went on to Corse Parish Church, where there was another short service. Coffee was served before they were on their way again to Hartpury church, where another short service was held and then some warming soup and rolls enjoyed.

Winners in Corse and Staunton village hall 100 Club draw for December were: 1 Mr D Young, 2 Mrs B McCreadie, 3 Mrs E Gough, 4 Mr Williams.
