THE Christmas meeting saw the end of the 40th anniversary year, with a commemoration glass presented to every member.

It was also members' autumn show. There were 46 entries.

The Jack Pettit Trophy for the best hybrid and the Mary Griffiths Trophy for the best species were both won by Malcolm Moody.

He also won the Silver Salver for the most points in show.

The BOC Tankard for the novice class was won by Rita Daley.

The new Memorial Trophy in memory of Trish Carney for the most promising new member was presented for the first time by Trish's husband, Paul, to Judy Ralph.

This was followed by a delicious buffet provided by the members.

In January, we had the judging competition.

There was a good turnout of members despite the snow showers and there were enough plants to fill four tables.

The winner of the competition was Monica Johnson with 16 points. It was an excellent afternoon and a good start to the new year.

On February 4, Brian and Jo Walker will give a talk on Vietnam.

Meetings take place at Arden School, Station Road, Knowle, on the first Saturday of the month at 2.30pm.
