I AM writing in response to the article "Parents urged to look beyond league tables" (Advertiser, January 25) in which Peter Woodman, head of Arrow Vale Community High School, emphasises the fact "good schools are more than just getting good results".

I myself am a pupil in my final year at the school and I entirely agree with Mr Woodman's comments.

I believe a school is and should be a place where an individual is encouraged to develop not just academically but morally and socially also.

It is about time this was recognised rather than a continued focus on schools being judged as "good" or "bad" just by their position in a league table.

Yes, qualifications are important but do not reflect entirely the success of the school or the individual as a whole. It needs to be realised education is so much more than just grades.
