REDDITCH took the honours in a scrappy game that saw neither team being able to take the initiative.

It looked to be heading for a stalemate but with five minutes left, Leafield's defence were caught out of position and Alex Cann drifted wide of the 18-yard box to fire into the left hand corner of the net.

Redditch returned to winning ways in a pretty drab game.

They dominated and several chances were missed before Lauren Jack opened the scoring before half-time.

Good goalkeeping kept the Reds at bay until Katherine Christopher scored a delightful second.

The home side reduced the arrears late on.

A STRONG Alvechurch side proved too strong for Redditch and keeper Emma Footitt was forced into a number of good saves.

Footitt was injured during the game and striker Katherine Fidler took over but was unable to deny the home side.

Leamington Lions U12's 8

Redditch put up a brave fight in this tough match with a weakened team and held their own for the first 15 minutes before a break left them exposed in defence which Leamington used to open the scoring.

Redditch were unlucky at the start of the second half when they had a penalty awarded against them for Leamington to double their lead.

Being further weakened when Millie Slater was forced off injured, Redditch conceded more goals despite some great saves by Eden Gibbs -Harris.
