A YOUNG Studley lass is starting out to challenge the Russians at their own sport - gymnastics.
Emma Lediard, aged 12, is already one of the top 30 in her age group in Britain at the exacting sport.
Emma, a pupil at the Alcester Grammer, who lives in Studley, has just finished a one-week intensive course at the top Lilleshall national sports centre.
She won her place from points in competitions and according to Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletic Club coach John Reeves, through her "attitude" to training.
"I was able to learn a lot of new moves at the Lilleshall because they have foam beds there and so are safer," said Emma.
"I'd like to head for the Olympics," said young Emma.
