A 50-YEAR-old amateur actress has had to learn an unusual new skill for her latest raunchy role.

Jane Wootton, of Boughton Street, St John's, Worcester, is set to play Paige in the Swan Theatre Amateur Company's version of Alan Ayckbourn's Role Play.

And in order to perfect her performance as the former lapdancer with suicidal tendencies the mother-of-three has been getting tips on how to dirty dance.

Mrs Wootton, who has been a member of the company for three years, was keen to take on the role of uninvited dinner guest Paige, who is intent on causing chaos at the flat of mismatched Justin and Julie-Ann.

But when it came to the scene of an impromptu lapdance, the actress - who works full-time in Worcester's Marks & Spencer's food hall - decided to get a bit of advice on the art from city dance school Academy Dance.

"I was quite happy just to give it a go and thought it would bit a lot of fun, but we agreed there was no harm in getting some advice to endure it was as professional and realistic as possible.

"I really enjoyed myself and did learn a few moves that I will include in the routine."

When asked what her three sons aged ten, 18 and 23 and husband Jonathan thought about her kinky character, Mrs Wootton added: "They think it's a hoot and are really supportive. I hope they will be proud of me when they come and see the show."

l Role Play runs at Worcester's Swan Theatre from Thursday, February 23, to Saturday, March 4. Tickets for the performance, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £8 and £9.50.
