A RACE featuring plastic ducks and homemade water birds has raised £1,000 for charity.
Proceeds from the New Year's Duck Race, which was held in Bewdley and organised by the Kidderminster and District Lions Club, have been donated to Acorns Children's Hospice, based in Worcester, which provides care and support for life-limited children and their families.
More than 450 people entered the race and around 2,000 spectators turned up to watch the ducks, which were launched on the north side of the bridge and travelled down the River Severn down Lax Lane.
Club member, Colin Hill, said the club was pleased with the support the race received and was already planning next year's.
The Lions Club's next event will be the annual raft race from Arley to Stourport on Sunday, May 14.
