A SCHOOLBOY is trapped at home, too terrified to go out after two brutal assaults on the same day left him traumatised.

The first attack, at Pershore High School, left the 14-year-old with a broken nose and bruising.

But just hours later he was attacked again by a group of around six youths in his home village of Drakes Broughton where he was savagely beaten.

Since then the teen has refused to leave the family home in Woodleigh unless his father is with him.

And this week talks were due to be held between his father and Clive Corbett, head teacher at Pershore High School.

Mr Corbett confirmed that another boy had been excluded following the first incident which occurred on school property.

But he agreed he was powerless to take sanctions against a youth said to be the instigator of the second attack, even though he is a pupil at the school.

"I cannot exclude someone for something that happens outside the school," he said.

"The second incident in Drakes Broughton was horrendous but my hands are tied.

"I intend to contact the father and see if we can get his son back to Pershore High School or make other arrangements for his education to allow him the chance to succeed."

The teen's dad said he had been in contact with Mr Corbett on several occasions and claimed there had been sporadic incidents of bullying over the past two years.

"Mr Corbett has worked with me on this but what happened this time is way over the top.

"My son was beaten to a pulp and if staff from a hairdressing salon in the village hadn't gone to help him it could have been even worse."

Stylist Cheryl Phillips was leaving work with a colleague when "I saw a boy covered in blood".

"We got out of the car and took him into the salon. He gave me the names of the people he said had done it and asked me to phone his parents on his mobile.

"Someone else who had seen him had called the police and ambulance and we waited in the salon with him until the ambulance arrived

"We didn't actually see the incident itself, just the boy afterwards."

Insp Helen Beer of South Worcestershire police said the attack in the village was under investigation but there had been no arrests so far.
