STRATFORD police are warning restaurant owners and pub managers to be extra careful with their deliveries after thieves made off with a haul of fresh fish from the rear of a pub near Bidford.

A polystyrene Seabourne box containing 20kg of salmon, sea bass and cod worth £150 was stolen from the Golden Cross in Wixford Road, Arden's Grafton, between 9.05am and 9.20am last Thursday.

Stratford crime investigator Peter Draper said: "The box must have been taken in a car although none was heard in the area at the time.

"It's possible that the fresh fish is going to be offered for sale at markets or door to door."

"We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything or is offered fish in suspicious circumstances."

Restaurant and pub managers particularly those in the rural areas should be extra careful with their deliveries said Mr Draper and consider having goods left in locked cages which can be accessed only by authorised people.

If anyone has any information about the theft they should contact the crime desk at Stratford on 01926415642 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
