A BRACE of goals from club captain Chris Adams helped Worcester Men's 1st XI to a much-needed 3-1 win over Mansfield.

Going into the game, the visitors were top of Coaching Solutions Midlands Division One, but the hosts were in determined mood.

The ever-lively Alex Kotlarzewski caused problems for the Mansfield defence, which culminated in them having a player sent off.

With Mansfield down to 10 men, Worcester started to pile on the pressure but the visitors made it 1-0 from a short corner late in the first-half.

The few Mansfield attacks after the break were calmly dealt with by man-of-the-match Matthew Brace.

Around 10 minutes in, Adams converted a short corner with a cool flick into the corner.

Worcester finally took the lead with a calmly taken goal by Hugh Crighton. They then sealed the three points with Adams' second.

The 2nd XI travelled to Edgbaston and were soundly beaten 6-1.

Worcester knew it was going to be a hard task to come away with any points against one of the strongest sides in the division.

The final scoreline was not a fair reflection of the game, but Matt Hooper's goal was the visitors' only consolation.

Scott Seckham scored twice while Chris Miles and Gregor McLeod grabbed a goal each as the 3rd XI beat Barford Tigers 4-2.

Well-timed passes from the back created enough chances to give Worcester a 3-0 half-time lead. However, Barford fought back to make it 3-2 early in the second-half.

Worcester then re-grouped and were able to wrap up victory with Seckham's second goal.

The 5th XI made Stourport 4ths work hard for their 1-0 win.

The 6th XI thrashed Old Sils 13-1. J Doughty (4), T Grove (3), J Forecast (3), P Simons (2) and S Munday were all on target.

The Badgers Pippins beat Blossomfield 7-0 at home. Nagushan Abimanue scored four goals, while Phillipa Roberts also grabbed two.

Gregor McLeod completed the rout.

Karl Lawson, Jack Walker and Oliver Drew all scored as the Badgers Potters beat Barford Tigers Badgers 3-0.

The Women's 1st XI entertained Firebrands in their first game of the New Year.

The visitors had opened up a two-goal lead before Elaine Shepherd scored for Worcester with 10 minutes remaining. But the visitors managed to hold on for victory.

The Women's 2nd XI beat the 3rds 6-3 in an interclub game.
