WORCESTERSHIRE'S Old Wrecks club picked up a quartet of gold medals at the first English Indoor Rowing Championships at Manchester's Velodrome.

Hanley Swan's Anna Bailey had her first outing since breaking her wrist 10 weeks ago at the British Championships. Despite a strapped up left wrist, she managed to win the women's 50+ race, setting a new world record in the 55-59 age group in the process, albeit in a tentative time of 7:31.5.

There was gold too for Cherrie Gayton (Evesham RC) in the women's J18 Lightweight which she won convincingly in 7:45.6, while Cathy Johnson won by a large margin in the women's 40+ Lwt in 7:39.3.

Sue Little completed the four gold medals, taking the women's 50+ Lwt in 7:57.2.

Megan Brown netted the group's only silver medal, in a closely-fought women's 30+ race, coming in at 7:19.2

Bronze medals went to Rob Buckley, Neil Ridge and Kevin Anderson.
