IT has been interesting reading the rather one-sided debate regarding high scores in the Stourport and District Youth Football League.
I understand the original concern was not the actual scores but the sensational language used in newspaper reports.
Reading the reports in last week's Shuttle/Times & News highlights this case. In men's football reports, "Cleobury enjoyed an 8-2 victory", Cookley beat Hamilton 7-1", St John's won a derby 5-0".
Contrast this with the reports of the women's/girls matches - Burlish had "elevenses, bashing Bredon 11-0", "under 14s trounced Alvechurch Lions 12-0", "under 14s got back to winning ways with a 9-1 walloping of Evesham".
Maybe the youth league has a case.
