Before the Sunday Open could be fished, Ed Brown had to break the ice on Mucky Meadow and Furnace Pools. The club fishing Mucky Meadow pegs 40-54 were unlucky as most of the ice was blown down onto pegs 40-48.
The Open was held on Furnace Pool, where Gary Haywood, from Old Dial AC, fished maggot on the bottom and in the margins, to win with 50lb 14oz of carp. Second was Danny Bache, of Storeys, on peg one, fishing maggot and corn to land 20lb 10oz of fish, 7lb of which was silver fish.
Furnace's own Mick Round came third with 15lb off peg 27. He caught carp on sweetcorn and his silver fish on maggots.
