BLISS Gate had to fight all the way against a stubborn Bowling Club A in the Banks's Bewdley Darts League on Friday night.

Bowling Club started the stronger, taking two of the first three legs against the league leaders.

Their captain Tony Whitefoot was going for the early kill by playing in-form Bob Green.

But both teams stayed with it right up until the final doubles when Bliss Gate's Mat Sheehan and Kevin Biggs wrapped up the game.

Red Lion B's Alan Marshall and Darren Edwards sealed the final winning leg against Rising Sun A with a 180 from Marshall in the doubles.

Red Lion A had no problem beating Rising Sun B, even though Sun had the better start with Steve Portman taking their only winning leg.

Great Western's Tony Brooks and Ray Stilgoe showed promise in their singles and doubles matches with the former winning the opening leg with a superb 96 check-out.

But the home team still lost out against second-placed Waggon B.

Waggon A player Gary Hodgkins was credited with his first win of the season by default when Cock & Magpie only fielded four players, giving away the final leg and a one-sided victory for the hosts.

Waggon & Horses continued their impressive unbeaten run against Bowling Club B with victories for Graham Perry, Debbie Doohan, Richard Sault and Steve Watton.
