MUSIC fans are in for a treat when Worcestershire Jazz Orchestra performs in Droitwich for one night only.

The ensemble are set to show off their skills at the town's Norbury Theatre, in Friar Street, on Friday, February 10.

Established 10 years ago, the orchestra, featuring a mix of professional and amateur performers, has a big band repertoire from the late 30s to the present day, covering arrangements of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington.

The line-up comprises three alto saxophones, three tenor saxophones, a baritone saxophone, four trumpets, four trombones, a keyboard, bass and rhythm guitars and drums.

The entertainment starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7, available on the door, or from the box office on 01905 770154.

Calling all jazzers

JAZZ fans are in for a treat as two talented musicians prepare to perform in the county.

Keyboard player Phil Parnell hails from the home of jazz itself, New Orleans, and will play at Evesham Arts Centre on Monday, March 13.

The Dutch Lewis Broadband will then gig at the Victoria Avenue venue on Monday, April 10.

The shows are part of the centre's Jazz in the Foyer 2006. They start at 8pm and admission is £4 on the door.

Master on organ

THE master of the choristers at Worcester Cathedral is set to give an organ recital next Saturday.

The respected orchestral conductor, Adrian Lucas, will play the Rushworth Dreaper organ, redesigned and rebuilt by Nicholson's of Malvern.

Mr Lucas, also the director of the Three Choirs Festival, will perform at the Malvern Priory at noon.
