HOT on the heels of two successful support slots at Worcester's Marr's Bar last year, a fast-rising musical talent will be returning to the venue this weekend.

Twenty-four-year-old London-based Declan Bennett, who goes under the name of sumladfromcov as he originally hails from Coventry, first tasted success as a teenager.

At that time he had a number one album and five top 20 singles with the boy band Point Break and also appeared in the lead role of Boy George's hit show Taboo in the West End.

The talented musician is now concentrating on his solo singer-songwriter career and has already turned heads with his naggingly addictive fusion of acoustic soul and folk songs about love and sexuality.

He released his debut album Painter Ball last year and is no stranger to Worcester, managing to secure two high-profile support slots with none other than Amy Wadge and number one stars Nizlopi.

And his performances went down such a treat that he has been asked to return for a headline slot on Sunday.

Support comes from The Great Distance - two London-based musicians who have self-recorded an album to be proud of on an eight-track digital recorder.

Tickets for Sunday's Marr's Bar gig are £3 in advance or £5 on the door.
