STUART Watkiss is insisting nothing less than victory at Boston United will do in Kidderminster Harriers' relegation struggle.

On paper, a draw for Harriers tomorrow and a Rushden and Diamonds defeat at Darlington would still keep Watkiss' men in with a chance of escaping the drop in the final two games.

But, after having to settle for just the one point from home games with both Bury and Yeovil, the Kidderminster manager believes they must set foot on the victory trail.

He admitted: "It is frustrating because, despite only two defeats in 10, we are running out of games.

"On the flip side, maybe we haven't won as many as we needed to at home over the last five or six weeks in the big matches.

"Another reason is that, until recently, we couldn't manage to draw games. You look at the number of draws other teams around you have got.

"Until the last five or six weeks, I think we'd only had three or four draws all season which is not enough. There's been games we should have seen out and picked up a point from.

"There's been five or six of those since I've been here and those points have a massive bearing on the league table."

Victory at Boston, who Harriers faced in the Conference between the mid-1980s and early 1990s, would be their first in the Football League.

They lost 3-0 there after Boston's promotion and then drew 2-2 at York Street last season before slumping to an embarrassing 4-0 home defeat to the Pilgrims under caretaker boss Shaun Cunnington last November.

The Lincolnshire side are too far away from the play-offs and in no danger of relegation but manager Steve Evans will still be demanding a good performance with only one win from the last six games.

Harriers must make at least one change with skipper Wayne Hatswell set to return for the injured Johnny Mullins (hamstring) who may still be back at Aggborough before the end of the campaign.

Striker Iyseden Christie is tipped to make a surprise return on the subs bench from a nasty cut as Harriers head north with attacking intentions.

Tom Bennett (hip) should be fit to face his former club and John McGrath (toe) is also expected to declare his fitness. Knee injuries rule out forwards Gary Birch and Ian Foster.

Watkiss added: "We just have to make sure by hook or by crook that we are still alive at 5pm on Saturday.

"The only way we can do that is to get a better result than Rushden because it would be unforgivable if they slip up and we fail to take advantage of it.

"It's come to the point where we need three wins and, realistically, nothing less will do."
