REDDITCH United hammered Bromsgrove Rovers 4-0 in the Dr Martens League Western Division at the Victoria Ground last night.

And how the travelling army of United fans loved it, sentencing their local rivals to a 10th consecutive league defeat.

Rovers were in with a shout at the break, with Matt Hall's fifth minute goal separating the sides.

But Redditch ran riot in the second half as Paul Danks added a second and Adam Nicholls and Martin Myers completed the formalities.

Rovers keeper Nore Gabbidon was at fault for the opening goal, spilling a routine save from Karl Brennan straight into the path of Hall who finished with ease.

Rovers made a fight of it, forcing a number of corners in a bid to get back into the game.

Mark Benbow, Michael Crawford and Richard Burgess all spurned half-chances, while Hall was guilty of a glaring miss just before the break. Rovers skipper Quentin Townsend made two timely blocks to deny Danks.

But in the second period United poured forward in numbers, and after six minutes Gabbidon saved well from Scott Colcombe's pile driver but deadly Danks was on hand to follow up the rebound.

With 20 minutes left Adam Nicholls picked the ball up on the edge of the area and drilled a firm effort under Gabbidon.

Three minutes later Myers capped a virtuoso performance with a 25-yard piledriver.

Burgess had a late chance to grab a consolation but couldn't find the target from an acute angle.
