A triple substitution by Jan Molby provided the spark which lifted Kidderminster Harriers to a 2-1 Nationwide League Division Three victory over Southend United at Aggborough last night.

Two of the subs, Ian Bogie and Stewart Hadley, both hit the target after the Shrimpers had taken a first half lead through Michael Black.

Bogie and Hadley, together with Paul Webb, were drafted in after 57 minutes in place of Daire Doyle, John Durnin and Barry Horne and within eight minutes they were back on terms.

The equaliser came in the shape of a 20-yard shot into the top right-hand corner by Bogie -- his first league goal for Harriers.

Then, with just a minute left, Hadley drilled home the winner to stretch Kidderminster's mini-revival to three games without defeat.

Afterwards, Molby said: "The treble substitution obviously gave us a lift. It livened the place up for a few minutes and in that time we actually got the equaliser. Then the game died again like it had been in that previous 60 or 70 minutes.

"It was just one of those dead evenings. All my players were lacklustre and there was no real tempo to the game. I guess over the season we'll play a lot better than this and get nothing."

Molby was particularly pleased with transfer-listed Bogie who has been dogged by injury this season.

He said: "He played very well when he came on. He lit up the place. I'm still worried about his fitness, but I had to make a decision because Mark Shail and Andy Ducros couldn't play because of flu.

"I didn't feel it was quite the right time to make the substitutions at half-time. I thought I'd give them another five or 10 minutes to see if the players who had started the game could lift it, but they couldn't."

Southend, who drew 1-1 at home to Harriers in September, had taken the lead in the 31st minute when Black scored from 30 yards.

He was given the chance when Parfait Medou-Otye failed to clear after the ball had broken loose following a challenge outside the area by 'keeper Tim Clarke on Martin Carruthers.

The tempo of the game never reached any great heights although the second half provided a better spectacle, particularly for Harriers fans when they saw Bogie and Hadley clinch their side's eighth home league win of the season.
