COLIN Youngjohns has praised loyal Kidderminster Harriers fans for supporting the crisis club in their hour of need.

Almost 600 season tickets have been snapped up for the new Conference season, despite the uncertain future surrounding the trouble-torn Aggborough club.

It means the income generated from the ticket sales, in the region of £120,000, will help pay wages through the rest of the summer.

Last season, Harriers had record season ticket sales of 1,100 and they are on course to challenge that figure.

As a result of unexpected high sales, club officials have decided to extend the discounted season ticket prices until Saturday, June 11.

Chairman Youngjohns said it was doubtful Harriers would have survived without supporters digging deep in their pockets.

Although Harriers have been able to pay off bills and wages, Youngjohns admits the club's position would be precarious without the season ticket revenue.

"We've sold almost 600 season tickets which is great when you consider the confusion that has surrounded the club," said Youngjohns.

"We're delighted the fans have backed us in such numbers. I want to thank all of the supporters for being so understanding about all of this.

"All they want to know is what kind of club they will have next season and we are extremely grateful they have put their hands in their pockets."

Youngjohns added: "The money has been vital because the club has got to live throughout the summer and it gives us a bit of breathing space.

"It means that we can offer Stuart Watkiss some form of budget already and hopefully more will follow."
