A Worcester Warriors rugby fan is set to follow his favourite team to Gloucester for the big game on April 15 - but while they go by coach, Duncan Sutcliffe will be running there.

The 35-year-old insurance consultant from Worcester, plans to run the 26 miles to Gloucester Rugby Club in time to see the match.

The money Duncan raises from this marathon event will go St Richard's Hospice -the chosen charity of the Worcester Warriors Supp-orters Club, of which he is a member. Duncan, who is a member of Worcester Joggers and trains twice a week said: "It's marathon season and my run will be the week before the big London marathon - I'm just doing mine closer to home.

"I'll have a support crew of four friends following me on bicycles as I run down the A38 straight into Gloucester. It's going to be a big local derby game and I wanted to do something special."

Duncan and his wife Becky have raised funds for St Richard's before. They both took part in the Worcestershire Way Chall-enge, walking 31 miles from dawn to dusk and raised £2,000 for the hospice's work caring for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illness.

St Richard's Hospice is currently based at Rose Hill, Worcester while the new £5.25m hospice - which is due to open in the autumn - is being built at Spetchley.

The building will include all the current free services, plus 15 specialist hospice beds which are desperately needed but not available in our area.

Potential fund-raisers need to generate the £2.8m which will be needed annually to provide the specialist care and support for patients and their families.
