BY day they plaster walls, pull pints and sell books but come night they don their instruments and rock like there's no tomorrow.

They are Worcester-based three-piece 'psychobilly' band the Rock-it Dogs and, three years on from forming, they have now released their debut album Chills, Thrills and Blood Spills.

The 12-track release was recorded in a studio in Bath in a mere six days last summer, the result being described as a heady cocktail combining the power of rockabilly music with the agility of punk-rock.

It came after the band was snapped up by German record label Crazylove Records - only days after sending them a demo CD.

Twenty-four-year-old guitarist and vocalist Kris Passmore said: "It was pretty good getting signed because we'd only sent three CDs out, so we were shocked by how quickly it happened."

But, with the music scene thriving at the moment, the big question is how will they stand out from the mass of other acts struggling for a piece of the action.

Kriss said: "We can play for a start - all of these bands on the recent NME Awards are all rubbish.

"There are millions of great bands out there that don't get the recognition they should because they don't get signed to major companies so don't have millions and millions to throw around telling people to listen to them.

"That's the great thing about the psychobilly genre - that it's a community and there's always going to be a label that will want to put out your records. It's not a matter of it being a flash in the pan or whether it's in fashion."
