A FECKENHAM pensioner died of a disease usually connected to exposure to asbestos, and inquest was told.
However, County Coroner Victor Round said he could not be sure this was the reason Gerard Cordes contracted mesothelioma.
The widower died in the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch on November 7 last year.
The court heard Mr Cordes of Church Walk, The Square, was the chief executive of a firm selling artist's brushes. Mr Round said it was possible that in Mr Cordes' line of work he may have been exposed to asbestos.
"However, about 10 per cent of deaths from mesothelioma are natural and I cannot be sure which this is," he said.
He recorded an open verdict at the Stourport hearing last Tuesday.
