AN elderly woman found dead in a warden- controlled home in Hewell Road, Batchley, has been identified as Marjorie Chambers, aged 85. Her body was found by firefighters called to the address last Wednesday.
A spokesman at the fire station said they had been called to deal with a gas leak at the property. Neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution.
Detective Inspector Mark Colquhoun of Redditch police said: "At this stage, the death continues to be treated as unexplained although there is no indication of suspicious circumstances. A cause of death has yet to be established and further tests are being carried out. As part of the investigation the boiler has been examined and found to be working normally."
A police spokesman said an inquest into the death was due to be opened tomorrow.
