I FEEL that I must reply to the letter that was published earlier this month from a Mrs Moule of Kidderminster concerning a £10 fine that was issued to her mother because her mother's disabled badge was out of date.
May I point out that as this badge was out of date there was no valid parking ticket on her car, so therefore she was liable for a fine (one up for some eagle-eyed car park attendant).
May I also suggest that as a daughter looking after her mother's well being shouldn't Mrs Moule herself have been more observant and kept her eyes open as to the date on the disabled badge, then this issue would not have arose.
I do support the council in this issue because - being a holder of a disabled badge myself - I incurred a £10 fine for not displaying the badge in an area reserved for disabled parking, and rightly so.
The correct procedure for Mrs Moule would have been to have paid her fine and using the correct appeals form, state her case, gone through the right channels and I'm sure that her £10 would have been returned, just as mine was.
