EVESHAM Swimming Club took their largest squad in recent years to compete in the Worcester County Championships this weekend. Spread over several weekends, this competition brings together all the best swimmers in Worcestershire.
The first weekend was the long distance swims (800m and 1500m freestyle) and Cameron Brodie and Luke Pallett came home with bronze medals.
Last weekend three gold medals were won by the Evesham Swimmers with first places being achieved by Ayesha Gardiner in the fiercely-contested 50m freestyle, Cara Lee in her age group 200 butterfly and Cameron Brodie in the Junior Butterfly 200m with a time of 2.26m, a county record.
Further medal winners were Tom Santillo and David Townsend, who both narrowly missed out on first places by the slimmest of margins.
Especially pleasing for Evesham was the number of younger swimmers who had qualified to take part.
The boys squad were well represented by Matthew Rochelle, Kyle Annis, Nathan Pallett, James Bartram, Luke Pallett and Mark Molyneux.
The girls were not to be outdone and some fantastic times were achieved by Abi Pallett, Kim Swindlehurst, Frances Dobell, Amy Camp and Elizabeth Hinsley
The club now looks forward to the final weekend on March 24-25 where the swimmers can now go with every confidence of achieving more successes.
