OPEN your eyes, tantalise your taste buds, soothe the soul and tune in to the latest must-visit festival - Tewkesbury Spring Festival, aka Awaken Your Senses.

The medieval town is throwing open its doors for five days of tempting sensual treats with world class music making, national theatre classics, film screenings, dance, modern art, poetry, chocolate heaven and a wide selection of workshops ranging from Indian dancing and drumming to circus skills and film-making.

Whether you enjoy acoustic guitar, choral singing, classic drama or exotic belly dancing, there is something on the festival menu for you.

The programme has been created to suit all the family with both free and ticketed events morning, afternoon and night.

The Fun on the Fringe activities will complement the main festival with a mixed bag of entertainment.

Highlights of the Festival include Abbey School Choir's opening concert, Light of the World, featuring Britten's Ceremony of Carols; Classical Brit award winners The Sixteen, performing Tomas Luis de Victoria's Requiem; Gordon Giltrap, one of the most innovative acoustic guitarists in the UK; World - renowned cellist Alexander Baillie giving a recital of Bach and Britten.

D H Lawrence's sensual story of love across the social divide, Lady Chatterley's Lover will be performed by Buxton Opera House, while the American Belly Dance Superstars will also be appearing at The Roses.

The Fringe will include an Indian Dance workshop for energetic over-50s, massage, poetry and prose, a banner-creating competition, quilting exhibition and a chance to meet Prudence Emma Staite, the acclaimed chocolate artist who will be talking about the history of chocolate and what inspires her foody creations.

A selection of films will include the recently-released Memoirs of a Geisha, the award-winning biopic of Johnny Cash, Walk The Luine and Grizzly Man - a fascinating documentary about amateur zoologist and his relationship with a family of Alaskan grizzly bears who ultimately attack and kill him.

The festival runs from May 24 to 28 and a full programme of events are available from the Roses Theatre.
