WHEN it comes to the roof of the new Rhydd Covert activity centre, we've got it covered thanks to a specialist tiling firm.
Decra Roof Systems Limited has pitched in to become the latest company to support Operation Covert by agreeing a special deal for our community project.
The Sussex-based firm has saved the appeal £500 on the cost of roof tiles, pushing our savings past the £10,000 mark on the two-phase scheme.
Dave Jackson, the company's technical adviser for the West Midlands, said: "We are delighted to be able to help young people on such a worthy community project.
"We work on a wide range of schemes - some for local authorities, some domestic and some community projects such as village halls - and the Rhydd Covert appeal seems to have been a great success."
Mr Jackson, who is based at Bromsgrove, said: "I have heard a lot about the new activity centre and I think it is an excellent building. It is in a lovely location and the builders have done a great job. It all seems to be moving forward very well."
The inter-locking steel roof tiles for the new centre are heavy duty and vandal-proof.
They look traditional because they have a stone aggregate finish, but have a protective coating and are maintenance-free.
They have been used on a variety of other structures in Wyre Forest including the new riverside bandstand at Stourport and at West Midland Safari Park.
Decra agreed to help Operation Covert after project manager Grace Plant approached representatives at a trade exhibition in Birmingham to ask if they would support the appeal.
