TOM Kenderdine and Emma Hornby, of Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club, were selected to represent the club at the National Cross Country Championships, on the Parliament Hill course, London.

Fielding some of the UK's top athletes, there were 1,288 finishers, and Kenderdine gave a good performance to complete the 12k course in 165th place.

Hornby was 130th overall in the ladies 80m event, in which 444 athletes took part.

Four seniors took part at the Action Heart 5k event at Dudley, over a two-lap grass circuit.

More than 850 finished the event, with Amanda Crofts coming in first club member in 105th place, in 36 minutes 41 seconds.

Christine Sedman Smith came 249th and second lady over 55 in 40-21, Judly Harler was 301st in 41-35 and Mick Hudson came 462nd in 45-12.

Meanwhile, the club have organised a beginners' course for anybody considering taking up running.

The course, which starts on March 28, will run for 10 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6.30pm for about an hour, at Stourport Sports Club, Kingsway, Stourport.

Previously courses have been popular with ladies training for the Race for Life events.
