IT PROMISES to be party time at Stourport Hockey Club this weekend - with their annual sponsors and vice presidents day giving them chance to celebrate their on-pitch success.
The ladies first team clinched promotion to West Midlands Division Two at the first time of asking last Saturday, while the men's fourths have now clinched their West Midlands Premier title.
And with the men's veterans and both the boys and girls junior teams making great progress in national cup competitions, the club will have plenty to toast on Saturday.
The ladies firsts are now gunning for the Midlands Conference title to put the icing on the cake after sealing their promotion with a 4-1 win over Matlock Baileans.
Holly Lashford's girls only needed one-point to make sure of going up and they feared the worst when they trailed 1-0 at the interval following a below-par first-half performance.
But some stern words of encouragement from coach Mark Moss did the trick as they bounced back after the break with goals from Melissa Kennedy, Kerry Walker, Kayliegh Hateley and Fran Moss.
The ladies continue their tilt for hte title when they entertain Northampton Lions on Saturday with hit back at 2pm.
"Now our eyes are set on promotion as champions," said spokeswoman Sara Jennings.
Earlier that day, at 12.30pm the men's firsts will try and get their own promotion push back on track with their National North Division clash with Bournville.
Skipper Phil Lashford said: "Our game was cancelled last weekend due to the weather but with Bournville losing to Nottingham against the form book, we could still get into a play-off position.
"It gives an extra edge to Saturday's game at home to Bournville in that both teams have a chance of getting into the top two."
In a hectic weekend for the club, the men's veterans will also be in action when they play their postponed EH Veterans Trophy quarter final at 1.45pm on Sunday.
Manager Roy Woster took the sensible decision to call-off last Sunday's clash with Isca because of the weather.
There was snow on the pitch in the morning and Woster informed the Devon-based team not to bother setting off on their long trek.
"Hopefully we'll get in on this weekend because all of our players are ready for it," he added.
The ladies veterans will also be busy when they host the County Vets Championship on Sunday with the first match scheduled for 10am.
Flying the flag for the future of the club are the junior boys teams who are competing in the National Cup quarter finals this weekend.
The under-15s are away at Guernsey, while the under-18s travel to Reading.
The girls teams were knocked out at the last-16 stage with the under-15s losing to Nuneaton and the under-18s beaten by Cannock.
Kidderminster
KIDDERMINSTER men's firsts have recharged their batteries ahead of a daunting weekend against the West Midlands Premier Division's top two.
Their scheduled friendly last Saturday was called off when Leicestershire opponents Soar Valley declined to travel.
But Kidderminster will have their work cut out when visit leaders Solihull Blossomfield on Saturday and travel to Wolverhampton to take on second-placed Finchfield on Sunday.
Kate Jones bagged a brace as Kidderminster Ladies stamped their authority on Bromsgrove in a comfortable 4-1 win.
She opened the scoring with a confident penalty flick on five minutes and put her side two-up with a well-taken second just before half-time.
Despite a brief Bromsgrove recovery, Kidderminster confirmed their superiority after the break with goals from Kay McDonald and Giverney Gallagher.
They have a double header this weekend, hosting Badsey on Saturday and visiting Harbourne on Sunday.
Chaddesley Corbett
CHADDESLEY Corbett men were beaten 4-3 by a stronger than expected Standard side in West Midlands Division Two.
They have another tough task when they visit leaders Newtown at 2pm on Saturday.
