AN application to build a small industrial estate with 10 units in Kidderminster has been given the green light by planning chiefs.
Members of Wyre Forest District Council agreed to plans put forward by The Easter Group at a recent planning committee meeting.
The application for the Hoo Farm site was approved despite a string of complaints from nearby residents who have voiced their fears of increased traffic on the A449 and noise and light pollution.
Councillors felt, however, the application should be granted as the plot of land had been allocated for industrial development.
The Easter Group previously applied for 17 units and a 24-hour operational facility. The company withdrew the application, however. It has since been changed to 10 units and restrictions on some activities.
Members agreed, at the planning meeting, to having no restriction on operational hours in the offices, storage and distribution units.
There would be restrictions, however, on the general industrial unit, which would not operate between the hours of 7pm and 7am on weekdays and outside of 8am and 5pm on Saturdays.
Another condition laid down was that there should be no deliveries between 11pm and 7am on weekdays and no deliveries between 5pm and 8am on Saturdays.
Councillors felt The Easter Group, which decided to change the orientation of the buildings, install sound barriers and restrict some of its activity at certain times, had done all it could to allay the fears of residents.
