EVESHAM'S Under-8s made the trip to Gloucester to meet Matson for the first time.
In early exchanges of the opening match, Evesham pushed their hosts back but it was clear that the Gloucester side were a determined outfit and remained composed as Eve-sham, through Tom Speed and James Brinson, broke through to take an early lead.
Matson hit back and the teams were tied at 3-3 at half-time.
Matson continued to attack after the restart as Evesham repeatedly showed too much of the ball resulting in turnovers and scores for the home side.
Charlie Roberts, Tom Farrell and third try scorer Harry Howells continued to battle but the game ended in a 7-4 defeat.
Evesham produce their flowing game only in parts in their second outing that was all-square at 2-2 at the halfway point.
The second half repeated the pattern of the first with Cameron Carr and player of the match Todd Grainger driving the visitors forward but it their efforts were in vain as Matson ran out 7-3 winners with Speed and Brinson crossing for the Avon Street side.
