WOMEN'S hockey: Worcester 2, Redditch 1
Redditch lost out in a tight game to champions Worcester, the damage being done in a five-minute burst.
The first 20 minutes were evenly balanced with both sides pressing for a breakthrough.
Redditch then allowed Worcester to break through twice in the space of five minutes before Sharon Fish pegged a goal back for Redditch before half-time following good work by Becky Southwell and Emma Manders.
The second half saw Redditch push for the equaliser with Anna Stafford threatening from midfield.
But the Worcester defence held firm and it was keeper Amie Richards and defender Claire Steadman who stared in the final stages as Redditch were caught on the break in their quest for a share of the spoils.
Redditch take on visitors Bournville on Saturday (3pm).
n Redditch 2nds wrapped up promotion to Division Two of the Worcestershire League thanks to a fine 2-0 victory at home to Stourport.
Becci Butler scored Redditch's first goal and Helen Hartiss made the points safe when she scored with a penalty flick.
The 2nds were also in action on Sunday when they drew 0-0 at Cresconians in a re-arranged match.
Redditch enjoyed most of the possession but, without top goal scorer Emma Allsop, lacked that final cutting edge.
Captain Berrisford can now look forward to taking her team into Division Two next season.
