Badsey Rgrs U-11 5

RANGERS reached the final of the C & G League's League Cup after a powerful second half display.

Facing the elements in the first half, Badsey fell behind after Jack Milward had gone close to opening the scoring but the semi-final was all-square again when James Schembri headed in Luke Richardson's corner.

The second half was just two minutes old when Rangers took the lead when Milward bundled the ball past the Churchdown goalkeeper.

The latter was left helpless moments later when Schembri's wind-assisted 30-yarder flew past him but he then kept his side in the match with a series of fine stops as Rangers piled on the pressure.

However, Richardson made it 4-1 before Schembri completed his hat-trick as cup holders Badsey booked a date against Swindon Village Bowmen later this month.

RANGERS eased their way into the third round of the Ambassador League Cup with another solid display.

Player of the match Ryan Dixon opened the scoring in the third minute after good build-up play from Callum Grieve.

Dixon and Matty Andrew caused all sorts of problems for the Alcester defence who then conceded two more as Andrew and Callum Grieve both found the net.

Alex Jones broke clear from the restart to set up Andrew to make it 4-0 at half-time.

Dixon quickly increased Badsey's lead with a great run and finish and then completed his hat-trick with another great individual effort.

Andrew went on to complete his hat-trick with a tap-in after a long-range strike from Jones struck a post.

The scoring was completed when Dixon capped another fine performance with another great solo run and finish.

Drakes Broughton Rgrs 4

DRAKES completed their league season with an excellent victory over their local rivals.

Captain Daniel Rose led by example but it was two goals from Joe Morrall that left the visitors in the driving seat.

Tom Greenwood and Calum Tidy added their names to the scoresheet with neat finishes late on to cap a fine all-round display.

Littleton Jnrs U-13 1,

Evesham Utd B 1

EVESHAM opened the scoring early in the first half after goalkeeper Leon Ballard's clearance bounced over the defence and Henry Woods finished in some style.

They should have added to the tally but their inability to evade the offside trap proved costly. Littleton equalised before the break when United failed to clear their lines and they were lucky not to concede another but Bryn Tomes was quickly in to make a goalline clearance.

Littleton had the better of the chances in the second half with Ballard being called on to make a number of fine saves.

Woods could have secured the points but his shot was well saved by the home keeper.

Peopleton U-12 1, Bredon Colts 3

BREDON produced a polished show in tricky conditions to record a fine win.

They dominated the first half when a stunning strike from Arran Williams broke the deadlock.

Josh Blackman's goal direct from a corner doubled the lead at half-time after which Williams netted again when he reacted quickest to fire in a loose ball following a corner.

Peopleton grabbed a late consolation but it was Colts who held on to deservedly take the points.

VICTORY in United's final home game against Leckhampton on April 23 will clinch the league title.

The home side's latest three points were collected in facile fashion although the leaders led by just one goal at half-time.

Chris Greenwell and Connor Hensey netted in a first half that saw Rovers also find the net to make it 1-1 and the hosts fail for the second successive match from the penalty spot.

However, an interval reshuffle worked wonders and the effect was almost immediate when Ben Hoskins made it 3-1.

The points were soon wrapped up as Sam Jinks netted and more goals followed courtesy of Sean Cook (2), Hensey, Greenwell, Jinks again and an own goal.

Goalkeeper Louis Basteaux was named United's player of the match.

Bishops Cleeve Colts 0,

Badsey Rgrs U-8 5

ROBBIE Wallace gave Badsey the lead but that proved to be the only goal of the first period.

The second 15-minute session saw Rangers add two more to their total courtesy of a fine strike from Nathan Bolland and an excellent team move that ended with Jordan Lymn finding the net.

Bolland made it 4-0 in the last period and Ryan Attwood completed the scoring to cap what was perhaps Badsey's best display of the season.
