A TENBURY charity volunteer has been recognised with the town's top award for her unstinting contribution to good causes.
Muriel Lanman, who lives in St Michael's, will be presented with Tenbury Town Council's annual achievement award for her work with an abundance of charities and organisations.
"I am very pleased to be recognised," Muriel said. "It was wonderful when I was told but I could not have done this without the support of my husband Cecil and the people of Tenbury. "
Over the years Muriel has donated her time to Tenbury Hospital's League of Friends, the Royal British Legion, the county air ambulance, Tenbury's dramatic and operatic societies, Tenbury cricket club and St Michael's Hospice.
"I've been fund-raising for donkey's years and I started selling poppies in St Michael's since the age of 14," Muriel said. "I do it for the satisfaction of helping others and have never done anything with the thought of getting an award."
Muriel takes part in car boot sales in Leominster on Sundays to raise money for Tenbury hospital with her husband and also organises whist drives for numerous good causes. She will be presented with a shield by the Mayor on May 15.
