A GROUP of dedicated businesswomen are limbering up and training for Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.
The Worcester Women Retailers will join 5,500 other runners when the 5km women-only sponsored event comes to Pitchcroft on Sunday, June 11.
The team hopes to raise a minimum of £1,000 towards the £330,000 city target.
Kerstin Lloyd-Adams, of Simply Beautiful The Spa Experience, and Jayne Lloyd, of gift retailer the Blue Room, both in
St Swithin's Street have organised a team of 19 runners.
Mrs Lloyd-Adams said: "We are keen to give something back to the community and jumped at the chance to become involved in Race for Life when it was discussed at the retailers group".
The ladies have been under the watchful eye of personal trainer Steve Lloyd, who has has arranged a free running club to get the women in shape.
"The Race for Life is one of the best ways to start any exercise regime," he said.
"Not only will you be raising much-needed funds for Cancer Research UK, but also, by setting yourself a specific date to achieve a certain level of fitness, you will make it easier to train when you don't really feel like it."
The women will be taking part in a host of other fund-raising activities, including a pink
champagne evening at both St Swithins Street venues on Thursday, June 7.
Worcester Ladies Retailers can be sponsored at www.raceforlifesponsoreme/ladiesretailers.co.uk.
Race places for Worcester and Evesham have been snapped up, but are still available for the run at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, on Wednesday, May 31. For more information visit www.raceforlife.org or call
