A SERIES of 30-minute walks in Worcester have been organised by council bosses to urge locals to take advantage of the seasonal sunshine and get active.

The walks will be held every two weeks right through until autumn.

Park warden Michelle Newell said: "It has been proved that just 30 minutes of brisk walking on a regular basis can have a positive affect on your health and quality of life.

"We hope these guided walks give people a taste for exercise, as well as a chance to experience some of the lovely green spaces in the city."

A walk around Fort Royal will be held on Wednesday, July 14, and Friday, September 8. Walkers should meet outside the Commandery at 2pm. A riverside and Cripplegate walk is available on Friday, June 2, Friday, July 28 and Friday, September 22, with a 2pm meeting each time outside Caf Loco by the riverside.

A King George V jaunt will be staged on Friday, June 16, Friday, August 11, and Friday, October 6. Meet at 2pm at the park pavilion.

The final walk will be staged at Barbourne on Friday, June 30 , Friday, August 25, and Friday, October 20, meeting at 2pm by the Pumphouse environmental centre in Waterworks Road.
