WORCESTER lost by five wickets at home to Wombourne in a reduced overs Birmingham League Division Three game following rain.

Wombourne won the toss and asked Worcester to bat on a damp wicket and their decision soon paid off when Richard Gardiner was out for four.

Waddington Mwayenga, with a fine 36, helped put Worcester back on track with good support from James Carter (26).

But the rest of the batsmen struggled. Only Dan Keyte (23) figured as Worcester were bowled out for 133 in the 36.1 overs.

In reply, Wombourne got off to an uncomfortable start at 28-2, but Hughes with 37 was in good form for the visiting team.

Tthey reached their target in the 34th over for the loss of five wickets.

Worcester's second team also suffered a heavy defeat at Tamworth being bowled out for 111 with only Chris Genever (27) and Craig Doyle (21) looking in any sort of form. Tamworth knocked the runs off for the loss of just one.

In the Premier Division, Kidderminster Victoria suffered a losing draw when they entertained Moseley. In a game restricted by rain, Kidderminster were 65-8 in reply to 102-7.

Bromsgrove had better luck in Division One, beating Aston Unity away by a comfortable 96-run margin.

The Unity bowling lacked penetration allowing all of the new Bromsgrove batsmen to get in.

Omar Ali and Jordan Rose (32) came to the crease and put on a 73-run partnership running the fielders ragged with singles.

Ali (39) was the next out with score on 124 and Mark Evenson (4) soon followed.

Julian Court (31no) was dominant as was John Duffy (22) as the Boars rattled up 191-6 off 42 overs -- a score that appeared to be well above par in the condi-tions.

The home side slumped to 95 all out, with Nick Husbands 4-38 doing the damage.

Bromsgrove move up sixplaces to sixth in the league as most other sides failed to complete their matches.
